Pastoral Council Memo to the Parish - March, 2010
St. Augustine Catholic Church Parish Council Assignmnents

Dear Fellow Parishioner:

Each council member is linked to one or more committee, groups or ministries and asked to remain up to date on the workings and needs of the respective organization.  Via this liaison role, a current understanding of the existing activities, concerns and achievements of each organization will be brought back to the entire Pastoral Council.  Each council member will be asked to provide at a minimum, once annually, formal documentation regarding his or her assigned area.

It is our belief that you, the parishioner--as well as the Pastoral Council members--will be able to more effectively care for each other and the community we serve.

God bless,

Council Chair:                        David Warren
Council Co-Chair:                    Evelyne Malone
Council Secretary:                   Joye Miller
Council President:                    Father John Geaney, CSP

Pastoral Council

Ministering to the Needs of the Parish

The Parish Pastoral Council meets monthly.  Its purpose is to assist the pastor in deepening the spiritual life of the parish, and to give him input about the needs of the people.  David Warren (shown above, right) is the Chair of the Council.  (Shown below: Evelyne Malone, Vice President; Joy Miller, Secretary; and Father G, President).

Each year three members are elected to the Pastoral Council from the parish, and one person is appointed by the pastor in a three year cycle. The membership of the Council is usually about 20 people because there are a few ex-officio members on the Council.

Each Council member serves as a liason with one of the committees or organizations in the parish and, through the committee reporting system, keeps all members of the Council up to date with what's going on in the parish.

The decisions of the Council are based on consensus decision making and all decisions become recommendations to the pastor for action.

Currently, the Pastoral Council is discussing and moving items off its agenda relating to the Capital Campaign, the Strategic Plan and the relationship of Social Justice Ministry to the parish as a whole.

Meetings are held the second Saturday at 12:00 P.M.  Anyone in the parish who wishes to attend a Parish Pastoral Council Meeting may do so.
