Ministers of Holy Communion
Ministers of Holy Communion
This group of men and women assists in the distribution of Communion at our weekly Sunday Liturgies. Some of our Ministers of Holy Communion visit people in our community who cannot come to Church on Sunday because of illness, or who might be hospitalized (Sick and Shut-In). The training for this ministry is conducted by the Diocese of Memphis.
Hattie Moore leads this ministry. Photos of our Ministers of Holy Communion will be updated soon.
Hoc est enim Corpus Meum - For This is My Body...
Holy Communion signifies the actual reception of the Sacrament of the Eucharist. It may be referred to as the Lord's Supper, The Holy Sacrifice or the Breaking of Bread.
The Catholic Church teaches us that the graces that flow to us via the Sacrament manifest the Holy Spirit which helps avoid many mortal temptations and sin.
At St. Augustine, we ask that you insure that all cell phones are turned off during the Eucharist, as we celebrate the actuality of Christ's body. Those who are not yet able to receive the Eucharist, may come forward for a blessing, arms folded in the form of the cross, towards opposite shoulders.
“One of the natural signs of a true Paulist is that he would prefer to suffer from the excesses of liberty rather than from the arbitrary actions of tyranny.”
Father Isaac Hecker, founder of the Paulist Fathers
