Altar Servers
Altar Servers help Father Geaney prepare for Mass and assist in the celebration of the Liturgy. St. Augustine has male and female Altar Servers. This ministry of assistance at the Holy Altar of the Lord is open to men and women of all ages, beginning at nine years of age. Click here for the Altar Servers Schedule.
As of July 11, 1992, (Canon 230.2) Pope John Paul II confirmed that females could participate as Altar Servers. Now, many families serve together as Altar Servers.
St. Augustine requires prospective servers to take a minimum of four classes, before becoming an Altar Server. Youth must have the consent of their parents, and parents must commit to insure their children's attendance at training.
Mattie Little directs the Altar Servers.

“One of the natural signs of a true Paulist is that he would prefer to suffer from the excesses of liberty rather than from the arbitrary actions of tyranny.”
